Dr.sticky Whiskers

The Ring of Fire is an area where a lot of volcanoes erupt and earthquakes happen along the Pacific Ocean .In a 25,000 mile horseshoe shape there are oceanic trenches, volcanic arcs and volcanic belts and earthquakes. Inside the Ring of Fire there is 75% of the worlds active and dominant volcanoes .
Another name for the ring of fire is Circum-Pacific Belt or Circum-Pacific Seismic Belt . About 81% of the worlds biggest and baddest earthquakes happen along the ring of fire . The ring of fire is where plate tectonics and the movement and collisions of the lithospheric plates happen. The famous and very volatile San Andreas fault zone of California is a transformation fault which offsets a portion of the east pacific rise under most of which are too small to be felt.

Earthquakes in Oklahoma

The first earthquake known to have centered the state of Oklahoma occurred in September 1918. A series of shocks at El Rano produced only minor effects. The strongest was intensity v on September 10th.
Oklahoma tends to have quite a few earthquakes a year. The frequency of earthquakes has temporarily increased in Oklahoma. Scientists have linked Oklahoma's biggest record earthquake to the disposal of waste water from oil production.
The largest earthquake in Oklahoma this week was 3.1 in Enid. This month was 3.5 in Enid, and largest this year was 3.5 in Enid. So that is some information about earthquakes in Oklahoma!
